Moisture Testing

Moisture testing is usually done in connection with a mold assessment. When building materials become wet, they can harbor mold growth within 48 hours. Therefore, as part of ECG’s mold assessment projects, we test building materials for moisture content. When ECG encounters wet materials such as wall board, wood, etc., we often recommend they be removed before mold growth develops.
ECG uses a meter to conduct moisture test
ECG uses a meter to determine moisture content in building materials. Moisture in building materials other than wood is measured in percent wood-moisture equivalent (%WME). Levels below 16% WME indicate that the building material is adequately dry and will not support mold growth. Levels above 16% are considered moisture impacted.
