No Further Remediation Letters for Site Remediation Projects
When a subsurface investigation reveals that site contaminant levels are above the State standards, for most sites, physical remediation (e.g. soil removal) is not required. In these cases, ECG can address the site contamination with a series of written reports that demonstrate that the site pollutants do not represent a threat to human health and the environment. This is accomplished through the State of Illinois’ Site Remediation Program (SRP). The SRP is an environmental cleanup program in which the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency provides oversight of investigations and cleanup activities.

Purpose and Benefits of an NFR Letter
The objective of entering into the SRP is to obtain a No Further Remediation (NFR) Letter from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. The NFR Letter signifies a release from further responsibilities in performing remedial action. The NFR Letter eliminates environmental obstacles that would otherwise complicate future attempts to sell or re-finance the property and becomes a permanent part of the chain of title.
